The team takes off to sort out the problem, but as they run alongside the stampede, Bunga recognizes the pile of rocks from when he'd messed around with Rafiki's painting. Ono does as he is instructed and informs Kion that Scar's army has remained in the valley. Kion is surprised that his parents know of the eagle, and adds that while he has seen prints from previous ceremonies, he has never actually witnessed a ceremony. Once there, Nuka announces Kion as Simba's son, and Zira introduces herself and her daughter, Vitani. Kion's mother, Nala, and sister, Kiara, quickly agree to the proceedings, but Kion's father, Simba, shows little interest in attending. She witnesses Makini fetching Tuliza from her Bakora Staff, and orders her porcupine minions to steal the staff for her. The brothers admit that they had originally agreed to deliver the message in order to prove to their father that they are good prince material, but now that they've failed, they don't want to disappoint him. Kion admits that he is not in the right head and puts Fuli in charge. He then sings "Bird of a Thousand Voices" to explain his talent to the Lion Guard. Bunga volunteers to lead Kifaru to Lake Matope so that he arrives in time to participate in Tamasha, and Kifaru hesitantly accepts. She questions Kion as to why he is in the Outlands, and Jasiri explains that she has brought Kion here to sort out the water dispute. Kion witnesses Janja conversing with the spirit of Scar. Kion sings "We're the Same (Sisi Ni Sawa)", during which he comes to accept Jasiri. Rafiki suggests that he goes to the Tree of Life to get the cure for his condition. Ma Tembo resumes her search for a new water source while a concerned Kion decides to talk to his father. Kion trains with Askari to master the Roar of the Elders. The Lion Guard finds a moja kwa moja stone at a dry riverbed. At the end of the canyon, Nne and Tano trap the herd of oryxes and move in for the kill.
